Dimraeth What an Archetype Is

Race plus class is a third tree and a unique passive — 48 of them at 1.0, not on day one.

Archetypes and Skill Trees

In Dimraeth, an archetype is not a cosmetic label on a shared talent pool. It is the race–class pair itself. Every documented pairing gets its own skill tree — a blend of race, class, and that pair’s identity — and a simple archetype passive that hooks an extra benefit onto one attribute. Minotaur Brawler is the published example: it is a Vanguard, and it gains bonus stamina whenever Strength is leveled. Other archetypes do not get that hook.

This page explains the system. Concrete session plans live on starter builds. Letter grades live on the tier list hub. Racial weapons live on races; class loops live on classes. If you are about to click confirm, use character creation and the archetype planner.

Three trees, not one

Mudtek’s combat-week notes put it bluntly: your race is a tree, your class is a tree, and the combo unlocks a third. Minotaur plus Brawler is Vanguard (those notes also call the combo Horned Vanguard). The resulting board is huge — over 500 nodes in the published example — because you are not picking one class spec. You are opening race spells, class spells, and pair-only nodes that no other archetype can take.

Race tree. This is your base kit in combat, not flavor. A Minotaur is a heavy axe frontliner even on a more ranged class. A Fairy is a staff-wielding caster even as a Brawler. Humans swap sword and crossbow. Elves are marketed as masters of magic; their weapon kit is not published yet.

Class tree. Brawler adds close combat, grapples, light armor, and stamina. Magician adds fire, ice, and lightning blended with weapon strikes. Shadow is the third named class from the 2 September 2026 post; the loop is not published, so this page will not invent stealth nodes. Three more classes are part of the 1.0 target and are not named here.

Archetype tree. This is where pair-only spells and passives live. You cannot respec an Elf Magician into “Minotaur Brawler nodes.” If a keystone converts basics to Blunt for stun, that is a Vanguard story, not a universal Brawler story.

Spell sources stack on top of the trees. A race brings a starting kit plus signature spells (six is the published count). A class tree adds about another six. The world adds more through spellbooks — summons, support, and odd utility — and gear rune sets can grant proc spells. You still equip five at a time. The 300-plus total is the pool, not the bar.

The archetype passive

The passive is small on purpose. It does not replace the tree. It adds an extra benefit to one attribute so that leveling the stat your pair already wants feels better than leveling a tourist stat. Vanguard’s published hook is stamina on Strength. We do not invent passives for Human Magician, Fairy Brawler, or Elf pairs. If Mudtek has not named the hook, this wiki will not name it either.

That restraint matters for Early Access. Players will want a 48-row passive table on day one. They will not get one. Rank and plan only the hooks you can point at.

XP cost is the pair, not the player

Attributes cost XP. The cost of each attribute is set primarily by the race–class combination. Mudtek’s own comparison: it is significantly more expensive for a Fairy Magician to raise Strength than for a Minotaur Brawler. If you spend a lot of XP pushing into off-stats, you finish with fewer total attribute points at cap.

That rule is the hidden difficulty slider. A Vanguard who levels Strength is buying the cheap stat and getting the passive. A Fairy Magician who “fixes” Strength to feel like a Minotaur is paying a tax and shrinking the rest of the sheet. The archetype planner exists so you can see that tax before you click.

Do not invent the rest of the attribute list. Strength is the published example. Plan around the pair you can document; wait for Mudtek to show the others.

Why 48 is a 1.0 target

Store copy and design posts agree on the arithmetic: eight races times six classes is forty-eight archetypes at 1.0, each with a unique tree and a unique passive. Some posts say “8+” races; this wiki follows the 8 × 6 = 48 1.0 target and does not invent extra names.

That target is not the Early Access day-one roster. Confirmed identities today:

  • Races: Minotaur, Human, Elf, Fairy.
  • Classes: Brawler, Magician, Shadow.

The remaining 1.0 roster is rolling out during Early Access. Demo and playtest builds used Minotaur/Human and Brawler/Magician. Elf is now an Early Access race named on 2 September 2026; the kit is still thinner than Minotaur and Human. Fairy remains a staff caster with expensive Strength. Shadow is a named class without a published tree. They are not an excuse to fill a spreadsheet with guessed dwarves, rogues, or spears.

When a new race or class is named, it does not add “a few shared nodes.” It adds six or eight new archetypes, each with a third tree and a passive. That is why this page refuses to stub the missing 40 pairs.

How to read a tree when more pairs drop

  1. Identify the racial weapon. If you cannot name it, you do not have a kit yet.
  2. Identify the class loop (stamina grappler versus elemental weapon weaver, until more classes exist).
  3. Look for the pair’s third tree and the one-attribute passive.
  4. Check XP: which stats are cheap, which are tourist taxes.
  5. Only then ask whether the pair belongs on the tier list hub or in a starter build.

Combat still sits underneath all of this: five spells, stamina plus Concentration, Final Attack on the third hit, poise and stun, stacks of Burning, Chill, Poison, and Bleeding. The trees feed that fight. They do not replace it. Read the combat guide when you are done here.

If you remember one sentence from this page, make it this: 48 is the 1.0 destination, Vanguard is the documented example, and unnamed pairs are not playable identities until Mudtek shows them.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Dimraeth players.

What is an archetype in Dimraeth?

The race–class pair. Each pairing gets a unique skill tree (race, class, and pair identity) plus a unique archetype passive. Minotaur Brawler is the Vanguard example.

Are all 48 archetypes playable on Early Access day one?

No. Forty-eight is the 1.0 target from eight races and six classes. Confirmed identities today are four races and three classes (Brawler, Magician, Shadow). The rest rolls out during Early Access.

Why does attribute XP cost change by pair?

Mudtek sets each attribute's XP cost primarily by race–class. A Fairy Magician pays much more to raise Strength than a Minotaur Brawler. Heavy off-stat spending reduces total points at cap.

What is an archetype passive?

A simple extra benefit tied to one attribute for that pair only. Vanguard (Minotaur Brawler) gains bonus stamina when leveling Strength. Other passives are not named here because they are unpublished.

How is the third tree different from race and class trees?

Race is your base kit and weapon. Class is the combat loop. The third tree holds pair-only spells and passives no other archetype can take. You cannot migrate Vanguard nodes onto a Human Magician.
